Within the frame of Skalite awards known as the Oscars in tourism, ÇGH has been honored with an award in Airport Services.
Winners of Skalite 2009-Quality Awards in Tourism have been named in an online poll, by the votes of SKAL International Turkey members that embrace 9,000 tourism professionals and all branches of the industry. The awards were granted employing a two-phase “Transparent Grand Jury” system. The first phase was the closely contested online nomination that saw the competition of giant organizations. At the end of the one-week process, preferred candidates and reasons for their selection have been evaluated by Skal members, along with the number of people who preferred them. Then, the second online voting started at a dedicated website.
Upon conclusion of the voting, Skalite 2009-Quality Awards in Tourism have been distributed under eight main headings and 27 categories. Within the frame of the assessment that covered Accommodation Group, Travel Services, Tourism Transportation, Venue, Investment, Contribution to Development of Tourism, Media and Special Awards categories, ÇGH has been awarded in Airport Services category. The trophies have been presented to winners in the presence of Ertuğrul Günay, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, and other guests at a ceremony held at Çırağan Palace Hotel Kempinski. While Canan Çelebioğlu Tokgöz, Vice Chairperson of the Board, received ÇGH's award at the ceremony, the Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertuğrul Günay, who was presented with Skalite Special Award, stated that, among the world's top ten countries in tourism, only Turkey was able to finish the year with positive results despite all the adversities in 2009. The Minister said, “We must make quality our number one priority to transform increased quantity into increased quality.”
